According to New England Families, genealogical and memorial (Vol. 3), Samuel Foster was born in England in 1619.  He married in Dedham in 1647 and "removed" to Chelmsford in 1655.  "His house was on the lower edge of the southeast corner of Robbins Hill, not far from the center of the village."  He tried to prevent cruelty to Native Americans during King Phillip's War when public sentiment was against him.
