This gravestone is a little later than usual for me. The reason is because this
is actually an ancestor of mine. The first one I've posted. Thanks to the Gurneys I am connected to many old Rhode Island families. Do you have any Gurney, Manchester, Sisson, Ames, Edson or Barletts? If you do, let me know!

Marian, I'm descended from Deacon Samuel Edson of
ReplyDeleteBridgewater Ma through his daughter, Susannah.
Marian, Zachariah is my 1C7R, but I have a Gurney as close as a GGG Grandfather. My direct line is from Weymouth, MA, up to Maine! I just found Gurney headstones in Maine, this spring! And yes, I do have some in RI, too. They sure got around! Samuel Edson is also my 8G Grandfather, through his daughter, Mary!
ReplyDeleteSharon (which Sharon are you?), My Gurneys are from Weymouth and then to Maine and then to Rhode Island where they intermarried with all the old Rhode Island folks. Who are your Gurneys in Maine? Mine is Harris Gurney who married a Bath, ME girl (Eliza Shaw) in 1821 but they soon left and settled in Rhode Island.
ReplyDeleteI've got Anne Sisson, born ca 1647/8, dau. of Richard and Mary Sisson. She married Peleg Tripp. Haven't done much research on her. Are we cousins???
